Episode 21: The Living Harmony of Nature, within & through out with Robert van der Touw
Hello sweet soul, welcome. Robert shares about his profound connection with nature and the incredible initiation that happened once he moved in Aotearoa, NZ. He offers a vast array of nature's medicine.
BIO:
Robert was born in Holland, and moved to New Zealand in 1990, after graduating from the School of Homeopathy. He started practising homeopathy in Auckland and taught in different naturopathic and homeopathic schools at the time.
In 1995, Robert developed the three year course in Classical Homeopathy for the Hamilton Polytechnic. New Zealand ignited my passion for exploring the medicinal properties of plants. And since 1993, he involved many of my students and workshop participants in this research. Together with his partner at the time, Michelle Tappenden, they developed the Medicine of the Four Winds workshop program, as a platform for researching the medicinal properties of native plants. They used small scale homeopathic proving's and shamanic techniques in our research.
Robert's deepening connection with nature opened him to his creativity. He created many photographic designs and music compositions. Meantime during this transformative process he created courses, taking many people into the bush to help them connect deeply to nature. In these courses and workshops, nature serves as a mirror for healing facilitating an expanding awareness of her multi dimensional aspects.
Robert wrote several self published books about his experiences with nature: The Sacred Web book and cards, The Rainbow Essences of Aotearoa, Hometherapy and Quest for the Lost Gift. Together with Michelle Tappenden he created the music CD Songs of the Four Winds.

Rob's lifelong connection with nature @ 0:06Rob shares how he has had a deep love and respect for nature since the age of 3, when he was often found wandering in the forest near his childhood home. This connection with the natural world has been a central part of his life journey, leading him to explore plant medicine, homeopathy, and a spiritual understanding of the interconnectedness of all things. Transformative experience on Mauao Island @ 6:01Rob describes a profound spiritual experience he had on Mauao Island, where he felt a deep connection with the souls of the land and the plants. This experience gave him a sense of permission and guidance to deepen his study of native plants and their medicinal properties. Experiential plant medicine research @ 9:39Rob shares how he would make homeopathic remedies from native plants and animals, and then have his students take the remedies without knowing what they were. This allowed them to directly experience the effects of the plant/animal medicines and provide feedback, leading to valuable insights about the healing properties of the local flora and fauna. Guiding others to connect with nature @ 13:59Rob now focuses on leading groups into the bush to have direct experiences with the plants. He encourages participants to find a "special friend" plant that they are drawn to, and then he helps them deepen their connection and understanding of that plant's energetic properties and potential healing gifts. The wisdom of the Four Winds @ 56:37Rob describes a profound vision he received about the Four Winds and the 49 energy centers/chakras that represent the journey of consciousness from pure source to physical form and back again. He shares how this understanding has provided a powerful framework for his work with plants, animals, and the human energy system. Creativity and connection with nature @ 1:09:11Rob emphasizes how connecting deeply with nature can be a profound catalyst for unlocking one's creative potential, whether through art, music, or other forms of self-expression. He shares how this has been true in his own life, helping him overcome creative blocks. |
